Philly's Legendary Drummer Earl Young with The Trammps
In his early twenties, Young was called by Stevie Wonder to join him on his tour of Japan. With the passing of his partners, Earl put together a new group called The Trammps featuring Earl Young. Today the group consists of Earl Young, Adrian Jackson, Curtis McBride and Bunny Sigler. Philly Soul drummer Earl Young of the classic rhythm section of Baker-Harris-Young, kept the beat on countless hits coming out of the City of Brotherly Love during the 60's,70s and mid 80s. As one third of the core rhythm section that included bassist Ron Baker and guitarist Norman Harris, Young played on hits by The Intruders, The O'Jays, Barbara Mason, Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes, The Three Degrees, The Village People and many others. The trio was an intregal part of MFSB, the studio aggregation that was the house band for Kenneth Gamble & Leon Huff's Philadelphia International Records (PIR).He also played on numerous releases issued by other Philly area labels and co-formed Baker-Harris-Young Productions having hits with First Choice, Loleatta Holloway, Love Committee and other acts on the Cayre Brothers' Salsoul Records out of New York City. An acoustic guitarist with a very pretty tone, Earl Klugh does not consider himself a jazz player and thinks of Chet Atkins as being his most important influence. Klugh played on a Yusef Lateef album when he was 15 and gained recognition in 1971 for his contributions to George Benson's White Rabbit record. He played regularly with Benson in 1973, was a member of Return to Forever briefly in 1974, and then in the mid-'70s, began recording as a leader. After a couple well-received solo albums on different Capitol imprints including Blue Note, Klugh hit pay dirt with 1979's One on One, a Grammy-winning collaboration with pianist Bob James. More solo albums followed before the sequel to One on One, Two of a Kind, appeared in 1982. In 1984 he changed labels and released one of his most popular albums, Soda Fountain Shuffle, on Warner Brothers. Klugh made his biggest artistic impression yet in 1989 with the self-explanatory Solo Guitar. Two years later he would return to the "serious jazz" repertoire of Solo Guitar, but this time with bassist Ralphe Armstrong and drummer Gene Dunlap on the acoustic bebop outing The Earl Klugh Trio, Vol. 1. Cool from 1992 found him working with Bob James again and was followed by three more smooth releases for the Warner Brothers family before the jump was made to Windham Hill with 1999's Peculiar Situation. http://www.earlklugh.com/main.html

Exlcusive Interview Patrick Yandall
Patrick Yandall
"A New Day" review "SMOOTH JAZZ THERAPY" If there is one musician whose style typifies the sun soaked vibe synonymous with the city of San Diego it is guitarist Patrick Yandall. When in 2006 I reviewed his album ‘Samoa Soul’ I described him as having rhythm and melody pumping through every vein of his body and his 2008 follow-up ‘Laws Of Groovity’ provided further evidence of his distinct southern Californian groove. Now, with his latest project, ‘A New Day’, he has surpassed himself with a wonderful collection of eleven self penned tracks that is jam packed with some of the best contemporary jazz you will hear this year. Yandall’s music engenders enormous enjoyment and the mid tempo magic of ‘Urban Flight’ is smooth jazz at its immaculate best. Patrick Yandall~ The title song of his New CD "A New Day".

In a recording career of over three decades, master guitarist EARL KLUGH has been lauded first as a prodigy and groundbreaker, then a defining figure, and ultimately, as one of the true statesmen of contemporary jazz. With THE SPICE OF LIFE, with his single "Ocean Blue" and "Driftin" his second album for the independent Koch label, Klugh follows his Grammy®-nominated Naked Guitar (his eleventh nomination) with a statement every bit as compelling. After breaking a six-year recording hiatus with the universally-hailed solo album of 2005, Klugh steps back from Naked Guitar’s intimate focus on the unaccompanied guitar to capture the biggest picture possible, and an equally personal one: THE SPICE OF LIFE is a far-reaching account of all his music, marking Klugh’s return to full-scale album production after a nine-year break, with a special guest appearance by flautist Hubert Laws, and with the arrangements of two legendary orchestrators, Don Sebesky and Eddie Horst. Earl’s first single from The Spice of Life, called Driftin’ was a top 20 smooth jazz song of 2008 and is available on iTunes. Official Website: www.earlklugh.com

Delton has established himself as a new up and coming Smooth Jazz artist. Born and raised in New York Delton initially picked up the drums and trumpet at nine years of age, playing from Grade School thru High School. During those informative years Delton’s mother, (Irene) and father (Delton SR.) encouraged him take piano and guitar lessons which allowed him to experiment and grow musically. After graduating High School and attending College Delton served with the U.S. Air Force, but still continued to play drums with local musicians in Germany. Delton says his travels while serving in the military also opened his eyes and ears towards all different types of music and cultures. Travels to places like Norway, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Iraq, Luxemburg, France, Iceland and many more only fueled his musical and cultural interest even more. In 2004 Delton began playing sax and was able to study with people like Tony Hayes, Willy DuPont, Jesse Jones JR, for just over a year Delton has been blessed to study under the direction and guidance of Mr. Walter Beasley.
